JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: EDUCATOR
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Holds a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s) for the assigned teaching position.

Building Principal and/or appropriate Department Chair or Administrator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- PROGRAM
- Lesson Plans: Develop and maintain plans for daily instruction based on district courses of study and guides.
- Instruction: Utilize teaching methods and orderly classroom procedures to meet the wide range of abilities, interests, and maturational levels of students.
- Objectives: Establish and communicate to students well‑defined objectives for each unit of work, including evaluation procedures, homework, tests, related projects, and class activities.
- Evaluation: Cooperate with the school administration in evaluating the school program by serving on study groups. Make recommendations to the administration regarding methods of improving curricular, extra‑curricular or general program areas.
- Development: Assist in the development of, be knowledgeable about, and be guided by the appropriate curriculum of the district.
- Field Trips: Conduct appropriate field trips, which are part of the educational program.
- STAFF
- Meetings: Attend and participate in meetings (district, faculty, and department).
- School Activities: Share the responsibility of supervising extra‑curricular and other school activities.
- Staff Communication: Share with other staff members ideas and techniques to improve curriculum and teaching. Confer with faculty on student needs when appropriate.
- STUDENTS
- Evaluation: Evaluate individual student progress on a regular basis and maintain necessary records.
- Reports: Provide written student progress reports as required or upon special request of the school administration.
- Parent Conferences: Meet with parents to discuss student needs, problems or progress.
- Student Conferences: Hold conferences with individual students as determined by teacher and/or student need.
- Health and Welfare: Ensure student health and safety, and refer concerns to nurse, guidance counselor or administration.
- Special Needs: Identify and plan for students with potential disabling conditions, working with resource personnel and administrators.
- Conduct: Supervise students’ behavior in direct charge and in other school settings.
- Cumulative Records: Review individual students’ records at the beginning of the term or upon enrollment.
- OPERATIONS
- Policies, Regulations, Procedures: Know and observe district and building policies.
- Pupil Attendance, Tardiness: Keep records and encourage punctuality.
- Injury, Illness: Report any injury or illness to the administration.
- Absence: Advise administration per Substitute Teachers Handbook.
- Substitutes: Provide plans and materials for substitutes.
- Books, Supplies: Account for books and supplies, manage requests, and maintain records.
- Physical Plant: Maintain a safe, orderly environment and report unsafe conditions.
- Emergency Procedures: Know and review emergency procedures with students.
- Professional Responsibilities: Allocate sufficient time to complete classroom duties and other professional responsibilities.
- FINANCE
- Budget, Requisitions: Assist in the development of annual budget and requisition necessary items.
- Student Activities: Keep records of all financial transactions related to student activities.
- PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Presentation: Interpret school programs to students and parents when requested.
- School/Community Relations: Participate in Back‑to‑School, Open House and other community functions.
- Public Representative: Represent the district positively to the public.

- Professional Meetings, Courses: Maintain professional excellence through attendance and continued learning.
- Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical conduct and earn respect of colleagues, students, parents, and community.
