Job summary

Gloucester Township Public Schools is seeking a long-term substitute Special Education teacher for elementary and middle school positions. The role requires holding or eligibility for a New Jersey instructional certificate in Special Education and related certifications.

Position includes per diem compensation with a base rate of $220 per day, plus $25 more for assignments exceeding 20 days. 10-month year and job duties include planning, instruction, and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional Certificate (i.e., Teacher of Preschool K-3; Elementary K-5; Elementary School Teacher; Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped).
• Specific Certifications: Special Education K-6, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, or Teacher of Handicap.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in subject field(s) assigned and deemed highly qualified per standards established by NJDOE.
• Provides activities and experiences to meet the needs, interests and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.

Education

Undergraduate Certificate degree preferred.
