Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools seeks a Long Term Sub - Special Education Assistant to support students with special needs under the supervision of the building principal. This temporary assignment runs 09/08/2026 through 09/25/2026, 6.75 hours per day, Monday through Friday, at Lincoln Education Center.

The role focuses on implementing IEP goals, providing instructional support, and assisting with self-care and adaptive activities in multiple settings.

Qualifications

• Possess an associate degree or 60 college credits or para-pro/para e-link certification.
• Experience working with students with physical, cognitive, or mild behavioral needs.
• Handle with Care Training must be certified within three months of hire and maintained during employment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to be flexible based on program and student needs.
• Ability to assist students individually or in groups per IEP.
• Ability to follow prescribed therapies and programs as per IEP.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties and responsibilities in a student’s IEP.
• Assist students in individual and group settings in various locations.
• Provide instructional interventions and accommodations as outlined in IEP.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support student safety and success.
• Supervise students during meals, recess, field trips, and bus loading.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
