Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District seeks a Long-Term Substitute Paraeducator IA/Special Education Assistant to support students with disabilities at Marguerite E. Small Elementary School.

Qualifications

• Participate in annual trainings (blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, 51A, bullying, epi-pen, etc.).
• Must be highly qualified.
• Associate's degree, 2 years of college or passing score on the ParaPro test.
• Knowledge of child development (intellectual, social/emotional, and physical) and 12 months experience with students with special needs is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Provides direct instructional support to students with disabilities in the classroom or in a separate setting.
• Implements and/or adapts modifications and accommodations to the environment or curricular materials as directed by the special education teacher/liaison, classroom teacher or related services provider.
• Collects data regarding students' goals and/or objectives as directed by licensed staff.
• Supports the behavioral/social-emotional needs of children by utilizing pro-active, pro-social problem solving skills.
• Supports students with equipment (assistive technology).
• Assists with supervision of students during play and lunch periods.
• Fosters student independence while supporting individual needs.
• Supports tasks to meet IEP goals and assist with behavior, medical, social, academic or self-help interventions.
