Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.
• Valid Massachusetts DESE license as a School Psychologist.
• Knowledge of federal and Massachusetts special education requirements and eligibility processes.
• Training and experience in the administration and interpretation of psychological assessments.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and collaborative skills.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Master degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations as part of initial evaluations, reevaluations, and other assessments determined necessary by the Team.
• Select, administer, score, and interpret cognitive, social-emotional, behavioral, executive functioning, adaptive, and other appropriate assessments.
• Conduct educational or academic assessments as appropriate based on student needs, professional qualifications, and district practices.
• Utilize multiple sources of data, including observations, interviews, record reviews, rating scales, standardized assessments, intervention data, and other school-based information.
• Complete clear, comprehensive evaluation reports within required federal, state, and district timelines.
• Utilize culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices.
• Consider students' developmental, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs when selecting assessments and interpreting evaluation results.
• Collaborate with general and special education staff, related service providers, administrators, counselors, and families throughout the evaluation process.
• Consult with staff regarding referral questions, assessment needs, student data, and evaluation planning.
• Review relevant educational, developmental, behavioral, intervention, and progress-monitoring information.
• Collaborate with school-based personnel to understand students' functioning across academic and school environments.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with families and members of the multidisciplinary Team.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with district procedures and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices, special education regulations, and professional standards.
• Participate in relevant school and district meetings and professional development.
• Ensure continuity of evaluation and special education processes throughout the maternity leave coverage period.

Position: Middle School Psychologist
Report to: Building Principal
Position Type: Long-Term Maternity Leave and non-benefited - Position will begin on or about December 14, 2026

Key Responsibilities

Evaluation and Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations as part of initial evaluations, reevaluations, and other assessments determined necessary by the Team.

Special Education Team Participation

• Participate in initial evaluation, reevaluation, and other special education Team meetings as appropriate.
  
• Present and explain evaluation findings to families, students when appropriate, and Team members in a clear and accessible manner.
  
• Support evaluation planning, review and synthesis of assessment data, eligibility determination, documentation, and follow-up activities.
  
• Contribute assessment-based recommendations to support appropriate educational programming and IEP development.
  
• Collaborate with special education staff and other evaluators to ensure timely and compliant evaluation and Team processes.
  
• Support thoughtful transition planning and educational decision-making as students progress through the middle school grades and prepare for high school.
  

Consultation and Collaboration

Welcome to Danvers Public Schools, Holten-Richmond Middle School

, Our middle school encompasses grades six through eight and focuses on the learning needs of early adolescents. Emphasis is placed on academic success and acquisition of basic skills. Throughout the middle school years, students are supported in thedevelopment of their life-long learning and coping skills. The middle school program in Danvers utilizes the interdisciplinary team approach at each grade level. The staff is listed in teams at grade levels in this handbook so that you know how the instruction is organized. Three, four or five teachers instruct all the students in all the major curricular areas each day. The team of teachers serves the same group of students and therefore learns more about them, in order to share and teach more effectively. Students on a specific team work exclusively with those teachers for all the major subject areas. They also pursue exploratory courses, such as art, computers, health, public speaking / drama, music, physical education, and technology education, as well as world languages, with students from other teams. A middle school provides less structure than an elementary school, but more than a high school, for students at that “in-between age”. The purpose behind this team structure is to promote communication, coordination, and cooperation among subject area specialists. Students benefit from instruction planned by specialists who work together to downplay the overly subject-centered emphasis for the students. Excellence can and should be achieved by integrating the subject areas for all students.
