Job summary

New Bedford Public Schools seeks a Long Term Substitute Teacher- Elementary Physical Education to support instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. The role emphasizes inclusive education and collaboration with diverse communities within New Bedford.

The incumbent will implement PE curricula and manage classrooms to promote student growth and well-being. The position requires coordination with administrators, adherence to district policies, and participation in professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 60 college credits required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with children.
• Strong knowledge of technology including MS Office, video conferencing, Teams, Google and education-specific software.
• Massachusetts Teaching Certificate preferred.
• DESE license certified candidates receive additional daily rate differential.

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive learning environment to support students' intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
• Deliver instruction and implement lesson plans aligned with district goals.
• Supervise students in school-related settings.
• Maintain routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
• Support students in whole class, small group, and individual settings with varied teaching methods.
