Job summary

Perry Township Schools in Indianapolis is seeking a Long Term Leave – 8th Grade ELA teacher to cover a temporary assignment from January 4, 2027 to March 19, 2027. The selected candidate will implement district-approved curriculum and document student progress while creating a safe, engaging learning environment.

Under supervision, you will develop lesson plans, manage records, assess student performance, and communicate progress to families and administration.

Qualifications

• BA degree in education preferred.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and action plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Responsible for grading and entering grades into the system.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting.
• Ensure student conduct conforms with school standards and policies.
• Coordinates with other elementary staff and participates in faculty and grade level meetings.
• Supervises students in activities outside the classroom and during transportation.
• Administers standardized tests in accordance with district programs if certified.
