The Logs and Records Clerk is responsible for the management and sustainment of all aircraft logbooks, aircraft maintenance publications/files, prepares reports, logs records, directives, and correspondence in an aircraft maintenance and operations activity. Required to be familiar with and able to use Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) hardware and its associated remote peripheral subsystems. Analyze control charts and program maintenance and man-hour statistical information to aid the maintenance managers and logisticians in the performance of their assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs the duties and responsibilities of Aircraft Logs and Records Clerk classification.
  • Compiles Monthly Maintenance Plan.
  • Maintains, issues, and disposes of aircraft, engine, and associated component equipment logs and records and inventory records including aircraft and engine reports and weight and balance data as provided by written instruction.
  • Drafts aircraft/engine management and aircraft Inventory Reporting System reports.
  • Submits CDRLs / SDRLs, special reports, and X-ray messages in a timely manner.
  • Provides a daily update of aircraft status and configuration and records all inspections and changes in Inventory and asset configuration.
  • Monitors aircraft configuration status, weight and balance, and inventory data for accuracy.
  • Review maintenance documents to ensure scheduled/unscheduled maintenance program requirements are met.
  • Coordinates with PMO, the customer, and work centers regarding aircraft history/logbook matters.
  • Provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • Identifies and records work requests (WR) that require log book entries.
  • Identifies due components/inspections and issues any associated work requests
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations including participation in FOD walk down when directed.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Company Tool Control Program.
  • Other duties as may be required or assigned

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of U.S. Armed Forces Logs and Records or other civilian schools with equivalent curriculum or five (5) years of on-the-job training and/or experience required.
  • Must have three (3) years of general experience in maintaining aircraft logbooks/aeronautical equipment service records and associated logs.
  • Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.

  • Formal or Specialized Training/Equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in an office environment combined with a flight line-like setting and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with office activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to changes in temperature and weather.
