Job summary

United Launch Alliance in Decatur, AL is seeking a Logistics & Transportation Intern to gain hands-on experience in scheduling, tracking ground support equipment, and coordinating internal and external moves.

You will work with senior logisticians for a 10-week summer program, requiring a 3.0 GPA, enrollment in Fall 2027, MS Office proficiency, and the ability to operate in an aerospace environment under ITAR.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Logistics and Transportation professionals with operational tasks.
• Interpret schedules and coordinate moves with production operations.
• Use tracking tools to locate and schedule Ground Support Equipment movements.
• Support movement of Solid Rocket Boosters in storage and logistics planning.
• Shadow experienced staff to learn day-to-day aerospace logistics operations.

Job Overview & Responsibilities

As a Logistics & Transportation Intern at United LaunchAlliance you'll gain hands‑on experience and will have the opportunity to:

• Assist Senior Level Logistic and Transportation professionals:
  • Interpret Master Program Schedule and collaborates daily with Prod Ops for preparation of critical moves.
  • Utilize tracking tool to identify, locate, schedule Ground Support Equipment movements across enterprise.
  • Communicate and collaborate with transportation scheduler to ensure internal and external moves are enacted on.
  • Support logistics of Solid Rocket Boosters movement into and out of storage.
  • Support teams that perform internal moves, lifts to GSE, execute external/supplier or site to site moves, and maintain contracts for trucking, lifts, and other moves.
• Support one or more experienced business professionals in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of the business side of the aerospace industry.

Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ULA community and with fellow interns!

Required Education

• At minimum completed Sophomoreyear of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment.
• High School/GED

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a minimum college GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application; cumulative, no rounding. NOTE: An unofficial transcript is required if you are invited for an interview. We recommend you upload it to your profile when you apply.
• Must have a valid driver's license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama;. For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended.

Role Specific Qualifications

• At minimum, a actively pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant field from an accredited college or university.
• Must have plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2027.
• Ability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2027.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Effective presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to complete an internship at any of the below ULA's locations:
  • Decatur, AL
