Position: Senior Lead Maintenance Tech
Shift: 2nd Shift (8 hours)
Compensation: Up to $30/ hour DOE
Overview of role:
The Logistics Technician Senior Lead is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing logistics operations and driving daily execution in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role demands strong supervisory skills, technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems, and the ability to operate and guide logistics functions such as forklift operation and box building. The Senior Lead will play a key role in developing team capabilities, maintaining operational excellence, and collaborating with senior leadership to ensure logistics and supply chain effectiveness. A strong attendance record and ability to lead by example are essential to success in this position.
Core Competencies:
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to supervise, train, and lead logistics and maintenance technicians, promoting accountability, efficiency, and collaboration.
- Advanced Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems with the ability to perform and oversee diagnostics, repairs, and installations.
- Forklift & Warehouse Operations: Certified forklift operator with hands-on experience in material handling, inventory flow, and safe warehouse practices.
- Box Building & Shipping Logistics: Familiarity with packaging, box-building operations, and outbound shipment requirements.
- Logistics Knowledge: Deep understanding of logistics workflows, inventory systems, and supply chain coordination.
- Project Management: Skilled in planning, executing, and tracking projects, including equipment upgrades and facility improvements.
- Strategic Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess issues, prioritize tasks, and implement solutions with a long-term focus.
- Communication Skills: Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to work across departments and with external vendors.
- Safety & Compliance: Solid understanding of OSHA standards, safety practices, and regulatory compliance for warehouse and maintenance operations.
- Reliability: Demonstrated history of strong attendance and punctuality, setting the standard for workplace professionalism.
Key Deliverables:
- Lead daily operations of the logistics and maintenance team, ensuring that goals are met and that staff performance aligns with company expectations.
- Oversee forklift operations, warehouse organization, and box-building processes to maintain efficient and accurate material handling.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues across facility systems, including conveyor equipment and automated machinery.
- Supervise the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely maintenance and logistics support for production or facility needs.
- Manage special projects such as equipment upgrades, layout changes, or facility improvements from planning through implementation.
- Monitor vendor work and contractor performance, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to facility systems, maintenance efficiency, and team performance.
- Maintain documentation for all logistics and maintenance activity, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
- Serve as a first responder to urgent maintenance needs, troubleshooting quickly to limit disruptions.
- Maintain a well-organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies to support day-to-day maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all work is conducted safely, following company SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, ideally within a logistics, industrial, or warehouse environment.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, including inventory control, distribution, and transportation.
- Experience using logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS).
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams of technicians or maintenance staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and automated systems.
- Proficiency with maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS, work order systems).
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and other relevant safety regulations in an industrial or logistics setting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for working with diverse teams and departments.
- Physical ability to perform demanding maintenance tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces or at heights.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM, Six Sigma).
- Experience with international logistics and regulations.
- Familiarity with Lean or Kaizen methodologies for process improvement.
Technology Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with logistics management software (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP systems).
- Basic knowledge of data analytics tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with barcode scanning and RFID technology.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment, which may include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and handling materials.
- Availability for occasional overtime and weekend work as needed.
- Willingness to travel for training or operational needs as required.
