Job summary

Lumbee River EMC is seeking a Logistics Technician to support project goals by coordinating material, processing orders, and maintaining real-time inventory using NISC software. You will work with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely and safe material handling for line crews and contractors.

The role requires 3–5 years in warehouse/logistics, knowledge of electrical materials, and strong documentation skills. Valid driver's license is required; forklift certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree (or higher) in business, engineering, or related field is required or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of warehouse management, purchasing, inventory controls, and fleet assets experience.
  • Knowledge of electric materials, equipment, supplies for distribution/ transmission construction and maintenance.
  • Understanding of staking sheets and computer-generated material picking lists.
  • Knowledge of overhead and underground construction and maintenance, and RUS material specifications.
  • Good communication, customer service and employee relations skills.
  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire.
  • Forklift certification preferred (within 90 days).

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders and monitor materials on order to ensure availability for field crews; flag discrepancies.
  • Conduct physical cycle counts and inventory audits; reconcile shortages/overages.
  • Maintain accountability for outgoing/incoming materials and keep bins stocked.
  • Evaluate items for salvage or retirement and restock as needed; keep yards clean.
  • Assist with building management system controls for facility operations.

A Brief Overview

The Logistics Technician is responsible for assisting the team and attaining project goals, which include coordinating ordered material, charge outs to appropriate account, using the NISC software. The Logistics Technician works with vendors, reviews and processes materials, work orders, and assists with scheduling inventory. This position will ensure inventory remains accurate with real time cycle counts and maintain a safe, orderly and clean working environment. The Logistics Technician is also responsible for interfacing with the accounting, engineering and operations and information technology (fiber) departments, approved vendors and contractors.

What you will do
  • Gather materials for jobs, load and unload trucks, sort material and maintain inventory documentation.
  • Using moving equipment such as a forklift, ensure that materials are moved and stored in proper locations. Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness and safety of the warehouse.
  • Assemble, issue, receive, stock and retire materials for line crew and contractors for jobs based on materials list and according to proper procedures. Returns and retirements are to be entered daily.
  • Maintain needed documentation for the cooperative such as, but not limited to, transfer/receiving paperwork, material paperwork, pick lists, work orders, etc. entering information into accounting software.
  • Process and file purchase orders and maintain active control of materials on order to ensure that materials are available in sufficient quality and quantity that will enable Cooperative personnel to render efficient and prompt service to the members. Advise Director of Logistics of discrepancies between the purchase order and material received and of any damages to assure proper receipt.
  • Conduct physical cycle counts and other inventory audits as required or requested, such as distribution and transmission crossarms, security lights, etc., reconcile inventory shortages and overages reporting discrepancies, as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate accountability of outgoing/incoming materials; requisitions with proper description through Director of Logistics as needed. Make periodic checks of material and supplies to maintain an average inventory and keep warehouse bins stocked with regularly used material.
  • Evaluate items for salvage, return or retirement and restocks as necessary. Maintain pole yard and transformer yard clean and free of debris performing general housekeeping of outside grounds of warehouse. Clean warehouse and keep free from hazards.
  • Assist Warehouse/Inventory Supervisor as necessary using building management system to control and monitor facility ventilation, lighting, and power systems.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree Business Administration, Engineering or related field Required or
  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Engineering or related field Preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • 3-5 years Experience with warehouse management, purchasing, inventory controls, and fleet assets Required
  • Working knowledge of electric materials, equipment, supplies, and apparatus required for distribution and transmission construction, maintenance, and operations
  • Must understand staking sheets and computer generated material picking list sheets
  • Must have knowledge of both overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution and transmission lines as well as RUS list of Material and Construction Specifications
  • Must have good communication, customer service and employee relation skills
  • Valid Driver's License Upon Hire Required
  • Forklift Certification within 90 Days Preferred
