Job summary

Epes Logistics Services Inc is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee Customer Service and Carrier Relations, coordinating regional teams and improving profitability.

You will partner with Sales, Marketing, and Pricing, manage performance reviews, and ensure on-time service while maintaining data accuracy in the ELS Database. The role may require after-hours support and weekend/on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma; some college preferred.
  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent data entry skills—accuracy is very important.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Professional, clean, neat appearance.
  • No convictions of serious crimes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a group of Logistics Coordinators in designated regions and customer groups.
  • Coordinate quarterly performance reviews.
  • Assist Sales, Marketing, and Pricing in preparing customer bids, rate requests and pricing.
  • Monitor customer activity to ensure on-time service and measure performance.
  • Coordinate with Carrier Relations to ensure capacity and service levels.
  • Provide after hours support for critical issues as needed.
  • Adhere to Federal, State, DOT, OSHA, and Company rules and regulations.

POSITION SUMMARYThis position will have multiple operational supervisory responsibilities in the areas of Customer Service and Carrier Relations, all designed to promote the growth and profitability of Epes Logistics Services, Inc.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Supervisory:In addition to all duties outlined below, under the direction of the Vice President of Operations will coordinate the activities of a group of Logistics Coordinators in designated geographic regions and customer groups.Coordinate and prepare Quarterly Performance Reviews.Interact and work closely with department managers to anticipate the impact of daily business operations. Attend applicable management meetings.Meets weekly with Logistics Coordinators on assigned team to discuss goals and budgets for the groupAssists Sales, Marketing, and Pricing Departments in preparing customer bids, rate requests and pricingCustomer Service:Talk with customers by phone on a daily basis, identifying stated needs and developing programs to meet customer expectations.Enter into ELS Database orders for load pick-ups which will provide accurate customer billing and carrier settlements.Supervision of designated carrier-to-customer pick-up with time of pick-up, delivery, and special instructions as directed by the customer.Monitor customer activity on a daily, weekly, and annual basis to ensure maximum customer satisfaction, lane analysis, on-time performance, and new activity trends.Interact with sales force to identify new opportunities with existing and potential new customers.Adjust complaints concerning billing or service rendered, referring complaints of service failures to designated provider for investigation.Carrier Relations:Responsible for securing adequate capacity for freight booked in assigned region.Responsible for decisions and implementation of pick-up and delivery to ensure customer requirements are met.Responsible for tracking and tracing loads enroute, scheduled for pick-up, and those with delivery status.Responsible for tracking affiliate carriers via ELS Database for on-time service.Responsible for handling complaints concerning billing or service rendered on capacity side.Supervise/manage performance of affiliate and partner carriers.Coordinating with Carrier Relations specific needs to ensure capacity year around.General Duties:Participate in a rotating “on duty” schedule that includes working a partial weekend and being on duty for the following week.Provide after hours support for critical issues as needed.Discuss and coordinate plans and programs with the assigned Director of Operations to ensure maximum profitability and customer service.Support other Logistics Coordinators as work balance changes to ensure that each and every opportunity is maximized.Adhere to and comply with Federal, State, DOT, OSHA, and Company rules and regulations.Demonstrates support to the Epes Carriers, Inc.
