Job summary

Tenneco in El Paso, TX, seeks an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to lead the Materials/Logistics team and drive on-time delivery. You will supervise shipping, receiving and material control, ensure compliance with plant policies, and manage payroll input and cross-training for flexibility.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in shipping/logistics, strong knowledge of SAP, and a proven track record in supplier/customer coordination within a fast-paced automotive supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory/management experience required.
  • 5 years experience with freight carriers and ability to negotiate pricing.
  • Working knowledge of UPS/FEDX on-line systems.
  • Experienced with shipping and receiving functions of MRP software, preferably SAP.
  • 5-8 years experience with shipping/receiving to automotive customers, especially with ASN and labeling requirements.
  • Working knowledge of UPS/FEDX on-line systems; international shipping / receiving documentation required.
  • Understanding of inventory cycle counts; transactions and FIFO.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced Warehouse environment.
  • Able to deal effectively with customer service, management and production.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in shipping, receiving and logistics.
  • Must be Computer literate.
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental, Health & safety requirements and standards.
  • Strong communication skills and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a forklift truck adequately and safely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the Maerials/Logistics team on effectively meeting company goals & standards.
  • Responsible for the supervision, development, coaching and discipline of shipping, receiving and material controlling personnel and functions
  • Ensures compliance to plant policies & procedures.
  • Responsible for and In charge of the facility when management is not on site including emergency Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator
  • Responsible for organizing manpower, hours worked and verifying / approving payroll hours input to assigned cost center
  • Completes daily walk-through in shipping, receiving and rack areas to review and follow up on any EHS issues
  • Participates in corrective actions relating to Quality, EHS and Engineering
  • Develop team to meet on-going demands and business
  • Responsible for cross-training employees to ensure each knows all the functions within the department for flexibility purposes.
  • Enforces the Pay-for-Knowledge training program by ensuring training needs are communicated to the Training Coordinator or HR Personnel. Conducts performance evaluations for all direct reports on an annual basis or as performance issues arise.
  • Counsels the receiving personnel on how to solve issues, conflict resolution and takes disciplinary action following the Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct
  • Participates in continual improvement initiatives.
  • Performs waiting- to- ship analysis
  • Assures accurate and timely processing of invoices, ASN data and receipts to customers
  • Responsible for outbound logistics for expedited freights and transactions (Customs)
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy from a WTS standpoint
  • Responsible for following correct maintenance procedures of the fork-lift
  • Responsible for freight claims and receipts of customer
  • Performs receiving analysis and assures accurate and timely processing of RMAs and freight claims procedures
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy from a receiving standpoint; materials racks; and accurate inventory data entry
  • Responsible for ensuring correct maintenance procedures of the fork-lift trucks
  • Maintains packaging area via "vendor pulls" and supplies
  • Maintains and publishes customer "cut-off" times and customer specific shipping days
  • Interfaces heavily with accounting department to verify invoicing.
  • Responsible for freight cost analysis and arranging special shipping (counter to counter, international, inter-company) and negotiating prices for premium freight)
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Supply Chain Manager and/ or Plant Manager.
  • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
  • Accountable for Adherence to the Zero Tolerance policy and practice of refusing to tolerate or allow behavior defined by Tenneco as unacceptable in terms of safety (e.g. "unsafe behavior" meaning behavior that could lead to occupational injury or illness to a plant employee, contractor or visitor).
  • Accountable for complying with EHS Cardinal Rules and Regulations. Must understand what hazards are associated with his/her position and how to minimize them. All accidents/injuries no matter how slight must be reported to any member of management, and/or EHS Manager as soon as possible. Will be required to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Accountable for abiding by the El Paso's EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS
  • AUTHORITY to Stop and shutdown unsafe machine operation; unsafe behaviors; and unsafe conditions. This includes but not limited to any activity that does not conform to the EHS policy or may injure his/her direct reports or other Tenneco employees, visitors contractors.
  • Will work towards achieving established objectives, targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as business needs dictate or assigned by the corporate EHS officials.
  • Adheres and is compliant with the policies and procedures for IATF16949/AS9100 and other quality standards.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Tenneco’s policies, procedures, and practices.
