Job summary

Candidates should have a ABET-accredited engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical) and 0–3 years of experience, with willingness to travel up to 25–35% and a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• Graduation expected Dec 2026 or May 2027.
• Zero to three years of related experience.
• Valid driver's license for work travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, benefits, and safety impacts.
• Supports detailed design and technical reviews to meet engineering standards.
• Prepares bid requests for material, labor, and equipment and evaluates proposals on engineering and business grounds.
• Supports multiple projects from conception to commissioning and start-up.
• Leads project safety meetings and supports energy isolation procedures and HES goals.
• Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes using sound engineering practices.
• Participates in project safety reviews (HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.).

POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of MPLX, a midstream company majority owned by MPC, Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that primarily manage project work associated with Marathon Pipe Line (MPL), Terminals, and Marine organizations within MPLX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, environmental/health/safety impacts.
• Supports project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure design meets corporate engineering standards.
• Prepares bid requests for material, labor, and equipment and evaluate proposals on sound engineering and business principles.
• Supports multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start‑up.
• Acts as a safety leader who upholds company core values and prioritizes personal and process safety. Prepares and leads engaging project safety meetings, drives safely, utilizes the MOC process, and supports the development and implementation of business partner energy isolation procedures. Supports department and company HES goals.
• Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes utilizing sound engineering practices.
• Participates in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Earned Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited institution required (December 2026 or May 2027 graduate).
• Strong academic performance.
• Zero (0) to three (3) years of related experience required.
• Prior engagement with a Marathon Petroleum representative at a career fair, information session, networking event, or other campus recruiting activity preferred.
• Valid driver's license for work‑related travel.
• Must be authorized to work in the United Sates without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - TRAVEL:

• Travel up to 25-35% of the time is expected, including some overnight travel. We offer a hybrid work schedule.
