Description

Summary: The Logistics Specialist positions assists the Logistics Manager in managing distribution methods and systems to ensure on-time and in-full delivery to our customers, efficient store-to-store transfers, and inbound freight management to our stores and Distribution Center. These positions play a critical role in daily operations by optimizing delivery routes, to ensure we are meeting our customers’ needs, and effectively resolving delivery-related issues. Specialists will effectively communicate with others to promote a healthy and efficient supply chain, focusing on professional internal and external customer service.

Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring customer orders are efficiently scheduled and delivered in full. Teamwork with our Sales, Yard, and Warehouse teams is required to ensure we meet our customers’ needs. In addition, on-site daily inspections in the retail Yard are expected to ensure loads are built properly and orders are delivered on time.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Scheduling of Deliveries to Customers
• Ensure the sales order is complete, accurate, and of first quality.

• Communicate with delivery drivers of routes and provide essential delivery paperwork.
• Communicate with customers regarding expectations, timings, and access issues.
• Communicate with Pro & Design team regarding delays, incomplete orders, etc.
• Release work to Yard and Warehouse teams, with priorities.
• Walk Yard to inspect load builds prior to delivery.
• Monitor Yard and Warehouse Cross-Dock purchase order activities for deliveries.
• Maintain a schedule of deliveries that maximizes truck loads and routes.
• Monitor all delivery orders for readiness.

Inbound Freight Management:

• Schedule all inbound freight for each site, Yard, Warehouse, and Nursery.
• Resolve scheduling conflicts and delays with vendors and freight carriers.

Yard Transfers:

• Schedule truck and route for yard transfers.
• Optimize movements of product and prioritize customer transfers.
• Communicate movements and estimated arrivals to Yard teams.

Fleet Management:

• Ensure all inspections are submitted in a timely manner.
• Submit work orders via IssueTrak.
• Coordinate truck movements to repair facility.

Safety and Training:

• Report all driver incidents to Logistics Manager.
• Complete all assigned training.
• Assist in communicating safety and training requirements to drivers.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in a Warehouse or delivery dispatch environment with 1-2 years of experience in D365 Back Office preferred.

Licenses and Certification: Valid California Class C driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Understands the fundamental aspects of Friedman’s business processes, especially in customer service, order management, warehousing, inventory management, distribution, logistics and delivery systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize efforts to meet delivery and logistics needs, troubleshooting and communicating professionally within all levels of the Company as needed.
• Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action
• Escalate situations as needed to Logistics II or Manager as needed
• Work effectively and professionally with a variety of external and internal customers, including Contractor Sales, Yard, Store Leaders and Team Members.
• Detail oriented with the ability to monitor and realign work to ensure quality.
• Professional customer service skills and the ability to follow through issues to resolution.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgements
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Proficient knowledge of D365 and Axel systems.
