Summary of Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, the Logistics Specialist will coordinate between various bases to ensure the on-time delivery of students to school and events. Responsibilities include the efficient dispatch of buses and related administrative tasks. The role involves managing routes, issuing routes to bases for drivers, and maintaining proper documentation for bus dispatch operations.

What You'll Do

The core duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Perform routing clerical duties efficiently.
  2. Monitor and communicate via two-way radios and telephones.
  3. Respond to transportation questions from IPS staff, parents, and students.
  4. Enter late bus information into systems for buses running late.
  5. Contact parents regarding transportation issues.
  6. Maintain confidentiality of reports and personnel records.
  7. Conduct onsite visits to address transportation issues such as bus timeliness and overloads, and communicate findings to the Project Lead.
  8. Organize and communicate route information internally and externally, maintaining positive relations.
  9. Submit and track transportation change requests through online tools.
  10. Oversee route adjustments and ensure route efficiency.
  11. Troubleshoot routing problems and unsafe conditions.
  12. Respond to customer inquiries regarding routing issues.
  13. Use GPS software to verify route completion.
  14. Issue transportation passes and maintain related records.
  15. Maintain punctuality and attendance.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

On a typical day, you might:

  1. Notify staff and parents of route changes.
  2. Use routing systems to troubleshoot student and route information.
  3. Perform light routing tasks, including student assignments.

Requirements
