Job summary

QTS Data Centers is seeking a Logistics Project Manager to implement and control material flows between QTS locations. You will partner with Strategic Procurement and internal teams to ensure timely, cost-effective asset transfers.

The role requires 7+ years in sourcing or supply chain, plus contract experience. You will build strong vendor relationships, manage inventory, and drive process improvements across sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years in sourcing/procurement/supply chain.
  • Experience in contract development, execution, negotiation and management.
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across departments.
  • Experience leading change initiatives affecting organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory tracking and shipping with 3rd party vendors to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop, facilitate, and document processes to transfer assets between sites within timeframes.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with transportation carriers and warehouses.
  • Report on inventory levels, supply chain progress, and procedural efficiencies.
  • Forecast equipment needs based on proposed business plans.
  • Maintain knowledge of building types to guide equipment needs and design decisions.
  • Identify and resolve unique site equipment needs with business groups to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and establish logistics processes for Procurement Development to optimize networks.
  • Create and communicate status updates to support decision making.

Job Description

The Logistics Project Manager is responsible for implementing and controlling the management of materials between different QTS locations. The Logistics Project Manager will integrate and strategize with Strategic Procurement Project Managers and other internal customers to ensure material needs are met with various projects within QTS.

RESPONSIBILITIES, Other Duties May Be Assigned.
  • Manage inventory tracking and shipping with 3rd party vendors to maximize efficiency in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Develop, facilitate, and document processes to continually improve the organization’s ability of transferring assets from one site to another within expected time frame for maximum efficiency
  • Develop, manage, and maintain effective 3rd party relationships with transportation carriers, warehouses, etc. to ensure execution of required business outcomes
  • Responsible for reporting on inventory levels, supply chain progress, and procedural efficiencies to ensure that supply chain needs are being properly achieved
  • Forecast equipment needs based on proposed business plan
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of building types and how that drives equipment needs to guide design decisions
  • Proactively identify and facilitate resolution of unique equipment needs of each site while working closely with business groups to mitigate risks and issues to QTS
  • Develop, write, and establish logistics processes for Procurement Development department to optimize logistics/supply chain network
  • Create and communicate status updates to support efficient decision making
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply-Chain, or Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in Sourcing / Procurement / Supply-Chain
  • Experience in contract development, execution, negotiation and management
  • Skilled in building relationships with key stakeholders to gather category requirements, specifications from departments, and category subject matter experts
  • Experience in managing and leading change initiatives involving significant impacts to organization
  • Experience developing long range sourcing plans for assigned categories to reduce total costs, optimize value from suppliers, and meet internal customer requirements
  • Demonstrated company-wide procurement leadership experience within one or more indirect categories or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Supply Chain
  • Experience working for or supporting a data center provider (multi-tenant data center, hyperscale user, or equipment provider)
  • Procurement certification (e.g. ISM CPSM)
