Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a seasoned Global Clinical Supply logistics professional to oversee the end-to-end distribution of investigational products across global sites.

You will partner with upstream and downstream stakeholders to optimize distribution experiences and ensure compliant, timely delivery. The role requires strong GMP/GDP knowledge, international shipping expertise, and experience with SAP systems.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of international shipping documentation, customs processes, and shipment execution.
  • Familiarity with global supply chain participants including brokers, forwarders, CMOs/CROs, and depot/warehouse providers.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness and ability to influence across functions.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners to drive issue resolution and coordination.
  • Support the design and implementation of distribution strategies enabling compliant, reliable product delivery to global sites.
  • Monitor logistics performance, identify gaps or risks, and recommend improvements to service levels and responsiveness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across clinical supply logistics processes and systems.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while ensuring quality, compliance, and business needs.

Job Description

The Global Clinical Supply (GCS) organization is responsible for managing the end-to-end integrated clinical supply chain across the Company’s Research Laboratories portfolio of clinical trials. GCS oversees the sourcing, labeling, packaging, and global distribution of clinical supplies to clinical sites worldwide.

  • Partner with upstream and downstream stakeholders to identify, lead, and support logistics initiatives that improve the end-to-end distribution experience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Supply Planning, Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMOs), Trade Compliance, and third-party providers to ensure seamless logistics execution.
  • Serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners to drive issue resolution, enhance coordination, and support timely clinical supply movement.
  • Support the design and implementation of distribution strategies that enable efficient, compliant, and reliable delivery of investigational product to global clinical sites.
  • Monitor logistics performance, identify process gaps or risks, and recommend solutions to improve service levels, responsiveness, and operational effectiveness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across clinical supply logistics processes, systems, and stakeholder interactions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and initiatives in a dynamic environment while maintaining focus on quality, compliance, and business needs.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years’ experience in supply chain, preferably in pharmaceutical clinical supply chain.
  • OR -
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 10 years’ experience in Pharmaceutical Operations.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of international shipping documentation, customs processes, and international shipment execution.
  • Familiarity with global supply chain participants, including brokers, freight forwarders, importers, CMOs/Contract Research Organization CROs, and depot/warehouse providers.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and evolving business needs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness and ability to influence across functions.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based applications.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong understanding of clinical supply processes and applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise supply chain systems.
  • Familiarity with clinical supply trial operations, including packaging, labeling, blinding, randomization, and distribution planning.
  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry.

Salary

The salary range for this role is $142,400.00 - $224,100.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
