Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) in Moses Lake, WA, is seeking an onsite Material Handler II to coordinate incoming and outgoing movement of materials. This role verifies quantities, inspects shipments, and packs items for shipment while operating forklifts and other handling equipment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 2–4 years of related experience, a valid Washington driver’s license with HAZMAT endorsements, and the ability to complete DOT

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2-4 years experience or equivalent combination.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license with endorsements and ability to operate vehicles up to 26,000 GVW, including HAZMAT.
  • Driving record acceptable to meet DOT requirements.
  • Ability to complete DOT land, air, and HAZMAT shipping classes for certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manual duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Records, counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify.
  • Completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
  • Gathers, verifies, weighs and packs items for shipment according to specifications and the applicable transportation method.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.

Additional Responsibilities

Hybrid role requiring MS Office (Word and Excel capabilities) & CDL. Prior experience with Hazardous Material and/or ability to obtain Hazardous Shipping Certifications (CFR 49 Ground and IATA) and CDL License or ability to obtain.

Summary:

Coordinates incoming and outgoing movement and storage of raw materials, finished products and parts that include functions such as warehousing, shop and delivery services to ensure material availability and delivery when needed to meet production schedules | Compiles data on order volume, production schedules and forecasts and applies statistical methods to estimate future materials requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2-4 years experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license with the ability to obtain endorsements and safely operate vehicles up to 26,000 GVW, including HAZMAT
  • Must have a driving record that is acceptable to meet the requirements of current DOT regulations
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete DOT land, air, and HAZMAT material shipping classes for certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree

Other Requirements:

  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • This position is Safety Sensitive.
  • Travel Requirements: no or very little travel likely.

Pay Range (USD)

$36,960 - $58,344

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
