Job summary

Green Plains Inc. is seeking a Logistics Manager to lead the plant’s logistics team, overseeing unloading of raw materials, loading finished products, and movement of trucks and rail cars on site. You’ll drive production efficiency while adhering to safety and regulatory policies.

The role requires at least 3 years of management and plant logistics experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills. Expect a hands-on leadership position with heavy equipment experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Requires a valid driver’s license
• Minimum of 3 years management experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in plant logistics
• Must meet requirements to operate machinery/equipment safely
• Basic computer knowledge with Windows and Excel
• Good communication skills
• Understand applicable regulatory requirements (FRA, TTB, FSMA, state/federal)

Responsibilities

• Lead the logistics team, recruit, select, orient, and train staff
• Supervise delegation, coaching, and performance management
• Operate department equipment (rail loader, skid loader, front loader, locomotive)
• Operate locomotives; interpret orders, signals, and regulations; switch rail cars
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and railroad regulations
• Coordinate with schedulers, drivers, customers, and Production Manager for loading
• Maintain equipment readiness and initiate repairs as needed
• Set up and dispatch shipments with company drivers
• Understand FSMA, FRA, OSHA, DOT requirements and supervise drivers
• Accurate data entry and reporting; improve safety and efficiency
• Support policies and procedures with corrective actions as needed
