Job description

Compudopt’s mission is to provide technology education and access to under-resourced youth and their communities. Compudopt is seeking an enthusiastic, community-driven team member who is passionate about bridging the digital divide and creating technology opportunities for youth and families. Compudopt is seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Director. This role will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the logistical operations that support our national digital solution initiatives. This role ensures that equipment is efficiently acquired, stored, repurposed, and delivered. The Logistics Operations Director will lead a team responsible for coordinating national inventory, managing shipping processes, and executing large-scale pickups and deliveries. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have strong leadership skills, and possess a deep commitment to bridging the digital divide. This leadership role will work closely with other departments to align operational efficiencies with organizational goals and will report to the Vice President of Technical Operations. This position is remote and requires up to 50% travel to other Compudopt locations or events throughout the United States.

Major Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and implement national logistics strategies to ensure the timely and efficient collection, storage, and distribution of equipment.
  • Oversee the full life cycle of equipment handling from acquisition to delivery.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and pick up equipment from donors and deliveries to various distribution points across the country.
  • Collaborate with local partners to optimize delivery routes and schedules.
  • Supervise the Shipping Coordinator responsible for processing orders, generating shipping labels, and tracking shipments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of all orders and deliveries.
  • Oversee the management of the national inventory, ensuring accurate tracking of incoming and outgoing equipment. Implement inventory control procedures to optimize storage, maintain equipment quality, and prevent loss.
  • Establish and oversee processes for receiving, inspecting, and logging all incoming equipment donations.
  • Ensure all landed equipment meets the organization’s quality standards before distribution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping vendors, warehouse partners, and other key logistical stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage partnerships to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability.
  • Develop and manage the logistics department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Monitor costs associated with transportation, warehousing, and equipment handling to keep expenses in line with organizational goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a national logistics team.
  • Establish performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and create opportunities for professional growth within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards related to shipping, equipment handling, and storage. Implement and enforce protocols for safe and efficient logistical operations.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to refine SOPs processes, enhance efficiency, and maintain compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in supply chain, logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a similar role, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization, with three years of successful experience in a leadership capacity leading people.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale national or regional logistical operations.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in supply chain, logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a similar role, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization, with four years of successful experience in a leadership capacity leading people.
  • Knowledge of the digital equity landscape and understanding of the challenges facing underserved communities.
  • Experience managing equipment donations and refurbishing technology.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and logistics technology tools.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial management for logistics operations.
  • Commitment to the mission of providing digital opportunities and closing the digital divide.

Salary is one component of Compudopt’s total compensation package, which also includes:
