Free Store Foodbank, Inc. is seeking a full-time Logistics Supervisor in Cincinnati, OH. Under the Director of Distribution & Logistics, you will oversee the Logistics staff and drive Lean practices to improve distribution efficiency.

This exempt role reports to the Group Leader and requires DOT/CDL credentials, vehicle maintenance oversight, and strong communication skills to ensure compliant, safe distribution to member agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in distribution, warehousing or logistics.
  • Understanding and practical experience with lean management principles.
  • Experience with truck routing systems.
  • Valid DOT certification and CDL B.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete reports on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Logistics staff and support continuous improvement of processes through systematic problem solving.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure safe and equitable distribution of products to member agencies.
  • Oversee regulatory maintenance related to agency vehicles at the Distribution Center.
  • Ensure compliance with Feeding America, local, state, and federal policies and reporting requirements.
  • Supervise routing, receiving, and shipment of products for efficiency.
  • Ensure incoming product is received and receipted; outgoing product counted, checked, loaded and delivered.
  • Maintain DOT records and ensure drivers and vehicles are DOT compliant.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and inspections on all vehicles and stay updated on regulations.

Job description

Under the direction of the Director of Distribution & Logistics, responsible for the supervision of the Logistics staff. Ensures the implementation of Lean Management principles and philosophies that support the goal of hunger relief.

Full-time, exempt role in the Foodbank Division, Distribution Department

Reports to the Group Leader, Distribution & Logistics

Work schedule: 8 am — 4 pm

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • Supervise Logistics staff and support continuous improvement of processes through systematic problem solving
  • Work cooperatively with other departments to ensure the safe and equitable distribution of products to member agencies
  • Oversee regulatory maintenance related to agency vehicles at the Distribution Center
  • Ensure compliance with Feeding America, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and reporting requirements
  • Supervise efficient and effective routing, receiving, and shipment of product
  • Ensure all incoming product is properly received and receipted, and all outgoing product is properly counted, checked, loaded, and delivered
  • Serve as primary contact for vehicle leasing and maintenance contractor
  • Maintain DOT records in conjunction with Human Resources and ensure drivers and vehicles are DOT compliant
  • Ensure proper maintenance and inspections are performed on all vehicles
  • Stay current on DOT and other regulatory rules and policies
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or documented experience in a distribution center, warehouse management, or logistics capacity
  • Understanding and practical experience in the use of lean management principles and philosophies
  • Experience with truck routing systems
  • Valid DOT certification
  • CDL B
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Demonstrated verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to accomplish goals within timeframes and complete reports by appropriate dates
