Job summary

Abbott in Columbus, Ohio is hiring a Logistics Distribution Engineer to design and optimize distribution networks for our Nutrition business. You will analyze facilities, labor, and equipment needs, develop cost models, and partner with IT, Packaging, Manufacturing and Customer Service to improve flow and service levels.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or Logistics, 2+ years in logistics, proficiency in Excel/Access/Word/PowerPoint, and the ability to travel about 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Logistics.
• 2+ years of logistics experience.
• Strong knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.

Responsibilities

• Propose and implement logistics solutions for customers.
• Improve efficiency in distribution and transportation, increase throughput and optimize layouts.
• Apply logistics modeling to address facility design and process improvements.
• Determine staffing, equipment, and facility details for logistics support.
• Perform data analysis on logistics and transportation activities.
• Develop specifications for equipment, layouts, or material-handling systems.
• Evaluate and implement logistics technology to maximize distribution center efficiency.
• Develop logistics metrics and cost models for business units.
