Akima Facilities Operations seeks a Logistics Director to oversee NAS A Kennedy Space Center logistics under the Spaceport Infrastructure, Maintenance, and Operations Contract. You will lead daily logistics, materials and equipment management, disposal, and transportation, while optimizing resource use and ensuring safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in logistics, with strong leadership, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills to support spaceport operations and mission

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
• 15+ years of related logistics experience including supervisory or management roles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily logistics operations ensuring efficient use of resources, materials, equipment, disposal, and personnel.
• Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures to optimize logistics and ensure contract deliverables.
• Monitor inventory, supply chain coordination, transportation, and storage activities.
• Plan and allocate resources to support project and mission objectives.
• Lead and mentor staff, promoting accountability, safety, and high performance.
• Ensure compliance with NASA and OSHA safety protocols and regulations.
• Collaborate with program management to align with contract and organizational goals.
• Monitor productivity and performance, providing feedback and process improvements.
• Prepare and present reports on logistics operations and resource utilization.

The Logistics Director will oversee and manage logistics operations under the Spaceport Infrastructure, Maintenance, and Operations Contract at NASA Kennedy Space Center. This includes leading day-to-day logistics services comprised of , supply and materials management, equipment management, disposal management, and transportation management, and optimizing the use of materials and resources. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in logistics management, personnel supervision, and operational planning to ensure seamless support for spaceport operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of logistics functions, ensuring efficient management of resources, materials, equipment, disposal and personnel to meet contract requirements.
• Develop and implement work standards, policies, and procedures to optimize logistics operations and ensure compliance with contract deliverables.
• Monitor logistics activities, including inventory management, supply chain coordination, transportation, and storage operations.
• Plan and allocate resources, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment to support project and mission objectives.
• Lead, supervise, and mentor technical and administrative staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance.
• Ensure compliance with NASA and OSHA safety protocols and regulations, addressing potential hazards and enforcing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with program management and other functional leads to ensure alignment with overall contract and organizational goals.
• Monitor personnel productivity and performance, providing feedback and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Prepare and present reports on logistics operations, performance metrics, and resource utilization to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
• 15+ years of related experience, including progressively challenging technical, supervisory, or management roles.
• At least 6 years in a lead or supervisory position.
• Proven expertise in logistics management, operational planning, and resource optimization.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on team development and operational excellence.
• Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with team members, stakeholders, and government representatives.
• In-depth knowledge of safety compliance and best practices in a logistics or technical environment.

Desired Qualification

• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 19 years of relevant experience (4 years additional experience required in lieu of a degree).
• Previous experience managing logistics operations in a NASA, government, or aerospace contract environment.
• Familiarity with spaceport operations and mission support services.
