Job Description Summary

The focus of this job is to coordinate, manage, problem-solve, and work cross-functionally in support of export shipments and packing for Manufacturing Units.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, project management, sourcing, manufacturing, and engineering for processing documentation in preparation of shipments.
  2. Schedule outgoing shipments (Full Truckload, Less than Truckload, Full container load, and Parcel).
  3. Create and process documentation supporting international and domestic shipments, including packing slips, commercial invoices, SLI, NAFTA, SED, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, Packing Declarations, VGM, dock receipts, and Letters of Credit.
  4. Send shipping notices to customers.
  5. Support the implementation of key logistical projects.
  6. Partner with project managers to provide accurate quotes and prepare shipments for pickup or delivery.
  7. Oversee freight spend, including budgeting, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  8. Respond to routine correspondence from internal and external customers.
  9. Coordinate to obtain the least cost transportation and packaging options for export goods.
  10. Create and manage shipping quotes with at least three quotes to optimize costs.
  11. Review daily shipping logs to ensure timely shipments.
  12. Manage proof of deliveries.
  13. Ensure freight-related system (MRP) transactions occur promptly.
  14. Manage SAP/Inventory transactions, updating customer information.
  15. Handle shipment crises by reorganizing shipments with sites and couriers.
  16. File AES for international shipments with the US government.
  17. Manage rejected materials and returned shipments for rework or re-supply.
  18. Follow compliance with international and domestic laws and regulations.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Business or related field with at least 2 years of logistics and/or import/export experience, OR
  • High School Diploma (or GED) with at least 4 years of logistics and/or import/export experience.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum of 2 years of inventory/manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with freight forwarding or related background.
  • Proficiency in shipping software, Microsoft Office, Oracle, and SAP.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification in Hazardous Material Transportation, Vessell Shipper, Handling, and Disposal preferred.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, production-oriented environment with changing priorities.
  • Quick learner with attention to detail.
