Job summary

American Metal Specialties, Inc. in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Logistics Assistant to support daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and administrative logistics for efficient material movement.

You will coordinate outbound shipments, verify documentation, maintain records, and liaise with carriers and internal teams to meet customer requirements. The role requires 3–4 years in shipping/logistics, proficiency with shipping software and MS Office, forklift experience, and a reliable work ethic.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years in shipping, logistics, receiving, inventory control, or related field.
• Proficient with MS Office and shipping platforms (FedEx, UPS WorldShip, DHL).
• Forklift experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with customer shipping portals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outbound shipments using shipping software and portals.
• Prepare bills of lading, packing slips, certificates, and related paperwork.
• Schedule freight pickups/deliveries with carriers and vendors.
• Track shipments and provide status updates to stakeholders.
• Receive and verify incoming materials against POs and packing slips.
• Enter shipping, receiving, and inventory data in company systems.
• Assist with inventory transactions, cycle counts, and material organization.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Customer Service to support material flow.
• Assist with loading/unloading shipments as needed.
• Investigate shipment discrepancies and freight claims.
• Maintain organized shipping/receiving/inventory records.
• Monitor shipping supply inventory and trigger replenishment.
• Keep warehouse clean, safe, and organized.
• Support filing, documentation, and process improvements during downtime.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
