Salary Range: $17.00 To $19.00 Hourly

Coordinates the day-to-day transportation operations for Goodwill Central Texas by planning efficient delivery and donation routes, monitoring fleet activity through Samsara telematics, communicating with drivers and internal stakeholders, and resolving operational issues in real time. This position serves as the central communication hub between drivers, retail operations, distribution centers, and customers to ensure safe, timely, and efficient service.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Plan, build, and optimize daily delivery, donation, and transfer routes using Samsara Routing and other transportation software.
  • Monitor vehicle locations, route progress, and driver activity through Samsara telematics.
  • Communicate proactively with drivers regarding route changes, delays, customer issues, traffic conditions, and operational priorities.
  • Make real-time routing decisions to maximize fleet utilization and customer service while minimizing unnecessary mileage and downtime.
  • Coordinate equipment availability, vehicle assignments, and driver schedules in partnership with Logistics leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stores, distribution centers, donation sites, vendors, and internal departments regarding transportation requests.
  • Respond professionally to customer concerns, delivery inquiries, missed pickups, and service disruptions.
  • Provide accurate delivery status updates and estimated arrival times using Samsara GPS visibility.
  • Build positive working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain continuous communication with drivers throughout the day to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist drivers in resolving delivery issues, access problems, routing conflicts, and customer concerns.
  • Escalate safety concerns, vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or service interruptions to management as appropriate.
  • Prepare daily dispatch schedules and manifests.
  • Maintain transportation records, driver documentation, and fleet information.
  • Enter and maintain routing information within company systems.
  • Assist with fleet maintenance scheduling and service tracking.
  • Generate transportation reports and operational metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency, fleet utilization, and customer service.
  • Recommend process improvements that reduce transportation costs and improve operational performance.
  • Participate in implementation of new transportation technology and operational initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of dispatching, transportation coordination, logistics, or customer service experience.
  • Experience using transportation management software, routing software, GPS, or telematics systems (Samsara preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles.
