Job description

Base pay range

$24.00/hr - $28.00/hr

Location: South Seattle, WA (Remote to start; hybrid in the future)

Compensation: $24-$28/hr base + Uncapped Commission

Contract: 12-month ongoing contract (Excellent potential for permanent; based on performance)

Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision

Full-time hours: M-F: Ability to start between 6am-9am PST

Important Note: MUST BE BASED in South Seattle, Kent WA, Auburn WA, Downtown Bellevue, WA (Must be within a 45 min commute to South Seattle)

Our client is an asset-light freight brokerage driven to deliver excellent transportation and logistics solutions to their customers through elite team members, partners, and technology. They provide surface transportation and logistics solutions throughout North America.

Role Overview: This role has excellent growth and advancement opportunities as well as long-term potential. The ability to make $1500-$3000 a month in commission after 6 months is achievable. Potential for $75-84k in the first year and $180k in the second year; this is based on team performance, profit sharing, and revenue under management. Majority of your role will be ensuring shipments are scheduled, picked up, and delivered on time, managing shipments, and making light sales calls to carriers to build relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate pick-up and delivery times across FTL, LTL, and drayage.
  • Negotiate rates and service terms with carrier partners.
  • Communicate effectively with shippers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Accurately manage shipment details using our transportation platform for real-time visibility.
  • Track shipments and provide timely, proactive updates to clients.
  • Source and manage carrier relationships to move freight efficiently.
  • Monitor performance and resolve issues quickly to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Expand the existing carrier base and identify new capacity opportunities.
  • Assist Account Managers and the Director of Operations with reporting, data entry, and customer support tasks.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years’ experience in Logistics, Carrier, or Transportation Sales Account Manager role; will consider applicants from hotel industry or flight attendants.
  • Must have experience and be very comfortable speaking with customers on the phone.
  • Requires excellent phone etiquette and communication skills; outgoing and love to pick up the phone and start conversations.
  • Experience with providing excellent customer service; conflict resolution and empathy.
  • Experience or interest in business development, negotiation rates and terms, identifying new opportunities, and carrier sales (no cold calling; creating relationships and value).
  • Comfortable with light sales; talk to people you have not talked to before to expand and identify new opportunities.
  • Experience managing carrier relationships or similar relationships.
  • Experience ensuring shipments are scheduled, picked up, and delivered on time.
  • Experience tracking and managing shipments and ensuring freight is moving across the country.
  • Enjoy having a sales mind with a proactive and results-driven approach.
  • Must have worked in a role where you thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Ability to negotiate rates and service terms with carrier partners.
  • Worked in a role that required being politely persistent and having a never-give-up attitude.
  • Attention to detail with data entry work; inputting carrier information accurately.
  • Bonus: experience with logistics software (i.e., TMS - Transportation Management System or ability to learn new systems easily WMS, OMS, Emodal, dispatch software).
  • Able to work a flexible schedule; starting times can be 6am-9am PST; at times might start 6am PST. Will be reporting to NY manager.
  • Able to work a few weekends a month; with advance notice.
