Job summary

Careismatic Brands in Sherman Oaks, CA seeks an Associate, Logistics and Customs to act as a strategic and tactical problem-solver, partnering with planning teams and freight providers to ensure timely, cost-efficient delivery of sellable inventory.

You will manage freight rates, build external partner relationships, oversee ocean and air bookings, monitor shipments from booking to put-away, and ensure timely customs clearance and accurate invoicing.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in supply chain or related field.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with internal and external partners.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving with attention to detail and good judgment.
  • Team player who can work independently in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
  • Advanced understanding of international and domestic logistics practices.
  • Data-driven mindset to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience with ERP and data warehouse tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with planning and external freight providers to analyze projected freight demand and optimize resource allocation.
  • Manage freight rate information, filing, reporting, and strategic discussions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with external freight partners and understand international market dynamics.
  • Serve as primary contact for global factory and distribution network, resolving shipping issues.
  • Oversee ocean and air freight bookings and select cost-effective carriers.
  • Monitor shipment lifecycle from booking to put-away and communicate disruptions proactively.
  • Ensure timely filing of customs documents and clearance with authorities.
  • Audit and approve freight carrier invoices for accuracy and SLAs.

We have an outstanding opportunity for an Associate, Logistics and Customs to act as a strategic and tactical problem-solver. Reporting to the Customs Manager, this individual will collaborate with internal teams and external freight partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of our sellable inventory. This involves proactive risk mitigation and efficient communication of in-transit exceptions to key stakeholders across the organization.

This is a full-time role based in our corporate office in Sherman Oaks, CA.

Salary Range

$70,000-$80,000

What Your Day Looks Like
  • Partner with the Planning Team and external freight providers to analyze and communicate projected freight demand, ensuring alignment on capacity and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Manage freight rate information, including receiving, filing, reporting, and participating in strategic freight discussions with the Logistics and Customs Manager to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external freight partners, developing a deep understanding of international freight market dynamics and trends to leverage competitive advantages.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our global factory and distribution center network, efficiently resolving shipping-related issues and ensuring seamless operations.
  • Oversee and approve ocean and air freight bookings, strategically selecting the most cost-effective carriers to meet our delivery targets and optimize transportation spend.
  • Proactively monitor the shipment lifecycle from booking through delivery and put-away, effectively communicating any potential disruptions or exceptions to relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ensure timely filing of customs documents with appropriate parties.
  • Interface with Customs as an advocate for timely clearance and tracking of any shipments that have been selected for inspection.
  • Audit and approve invoices from freight carriers, verifying billing accuracy and adherence to agreed-upon rates and service level agreements.
What We’re Looking For
  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Business, or related fields. Or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Ability to create strong partnerships with key internal & external partners.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detail, accuracy and accountability balanced with sound business judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Positive and go-getter team player, who can also work independently, with the ability to troubleshoot and work in a fast-moving and multi-tasking environment with numerous deadlines and across multiple cross-functional partners and seasons.
  • Advanced understanding of international and domestic logistics practices and procedures.
  • Data driven mindset to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Highly detail oriented with effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with ERP and data warehouse tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and specifically Microsoft Excel.
