Qualifications

• Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate log yard equipment (knuckle boom, front end loader, yard truck, ag tractors).
• Perform basic equipment and facility maintenance.
• Recognize log sorts and place them in inventory storage.
• Collaborate with team members, and work independently.
• Contribute to a highly efficient and safe work team.
• Adapt to job assignment changes and flow to work as needed.
• Perform overtime duties when needed to meet customer demands.

Weyerhaeuser’s log yard facility in Cottageville, South Carolina has an opening for an Equipment Operator. This position will serve as a member of the flow-to-work log yard team, operating various pieces of log handling equipment, participating in various log yard activities, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

This is a full-time hourly day shift position reporting to the Yard Supervisor. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k plans, vacation, and holidays.

Key Functions

• Safely and competently operate all the equipment associated with a log yard; knuckle boom, front end loader, yard truck, ag tractors, etc.
• Perform basic equipment and facility maintenance
• Recognize log sorts and place them in the appropriate inventory storage
• Collaborate with team members, as well as work independently
• Contribute positively within a highly efficient and safe work team
• Adapt to job assignment changes and flow to work as needed
• Perform overtime duties when needed to meet customer demands

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One to two years’ experience operating log handling equipmentValid driver’s license
• Demonstrated adherence to safety practices
• Solid work history, including work in an industrial environment
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen

Preferred

• Experience and knowledge of log sorts, putting logs in and out of storage decks, unloading and loading log trucks, driving semi-trucks
