Job summary

Northwest Hardwoods, Inc. (NWH) is seeking a hard-working yard/loader associate to join our sawmill operations in West Virginia. You will operate a log lift, assist with unloading trucks, and help feed logs to the sawmill while maintaining safety and quality.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of lift-truck experience in lumber or heavy manufacturing, are able to work Monday through Friday with some overtime, and can thrive in a noisy, dusty environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Availability Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays and overtime.
• Able to work in a sawmill environment with noise, dust, temperature changes.
• Physically capable of climbing on/off equipment and handling lumber materials.
• 3–5 years of experience operating large lift trucks.
• Experience in lumber manufacturing or material handling.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safety protocol and policies are adhered to - safety-minded.
• Material Handling: Safely operate Log Lift to unload incoming log trucks, move logs, and feed them to the sawmill's log deck.
• Sorting & Stacking: Identify log species and organize them for efficient processing; stack logs in the yard.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily checks, keep equipment clean, and conduct minor maintenance.
• Safety & Coordination: Adhere to strict safety rules, communicate with truck drivers, and work with the log yard team.
• Quality Control: Identify and correct quality issues in log placement and handling

What You'll Do:

• 3 to 5 years' experience operating larger lift Trucks
