Job summary

J.M. Huber Corporation is seeking a log-yard crane operator for our Mississippi wood products facility.

The role involves unloading log trucks, building orderly wood stacks, and coordinating with wood scalers to maintain proper storage and rotation schedules. Responsibilities include operating portal crane, performing basic equipment maintenance, and communicating safety and operational updates to the maintenance department and shift supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0 to 3 years manufacturing experience.
• 0 to 3 years crane operator experience preferred.
• Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multi-limb coordination.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays per shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Unloads log trucks and places into wood storage inventory as directed by scalers.
• Builds stacks that are uniform and neat.
• Operates portal crane and other mobile equipment and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
• Notifies Maintenance Department and/or shift supervisor of operating deficiencies noted during inspections and/or operations.
• Maintains communication with wood scaler.
• Maintains safety of log truck drivers by monitoring position of trucks and location and activities of truck drivers and providing verbal instructions as needed via radio.
• Keeps work area clean and orderly and adheres to wood storage and rotation schedule.

• Keep stray logs picked up and clear of both sets of rails.
• Removes logs from wood storage and places on in feed decks.
• Assistsin keeping logs straight on in feed decks.
• Maintains communication with wood scaler
• Adheres to wood storage andwood rotationschedule.
• Ensures safety of log truck drivers by monitoringpositionof trucks and location and activities of truck drivers and providing verbal instructions as needed via radio.
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Maintains operations by reading, interpreting, and applying complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating procedures and other written instructions.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
