Job description

DogJoy is looking for an exceptional Lodge Technician (Kennel Technician) to join our TEAM!

WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING FOR A FULL-TIME POSITION. Morning shifts begin promptly at 6:45 AM, and team members are expected to arrive on time and ready to work. If this schedule isn’t a good fit for you, please DO NOT APPLY.

This is a long-term career opportunity — not a seasonal job.

DogJoy invests heavily in every new team member. Our Level 1 training program takes approximately 90 days, and we are looking for applicants who are available year-round and interested in growing with us long-term. This position is not a good fit for someone looking for temporary, seasonal, or summer-only employment, or for someone planning to leave for college or relocate within the next few months.

Our full-time Lodge Tech schedule varies based on the needs of the dogs and the team. Shifts are generally 6:45 AM–12:45 PM and/or 2:00 PM–7:30 PM. Some days you may work one shift, while other days you may work both. Team members must be available to work these shifts, including weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.

The people who thrive at DogJoy are dependable, hardworking professionals looking for a long-term career in the animal industry—not simply a job working around dogs. Reliability, punctuality, and communication are essential. The dogs rely on us every single day, regardless of the weather or the day of the week.

Who We Are

DogJoy is a one-of-a-kind DOG TRAINING AND ENRICHMENT FACILITY that uses POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT and focuses on building RELATIONSHIPS with every dog in our care.

We are not a typical doggy daycare.

Our team takes tremendous pride in what we do, and every team member is expected to uphold the same high standards. Many of our dogs remain part of the DogJoy family throughout their entire lives because of the consistent, compassionate, high-quality care we provide. We strive to ensure every dog is better behaved for having stayed with us. Engagement, enrichment, communication, and exceptional care all come together to create the happiest place on earth for the dogs in our care.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for dependable individuals who are ready to contribute to an exceptional team.

Previous professional experience working with dogs is strongly preferred.Experience in a kennel, boarding facility, training facility, veterinary clinic, shelter, or similar professional environment will be taken into consideration.

More important than experience, however, is character.

The ideal candidate:
  • Maintains a consistently positive attitude.
  • Follows instructions carefully—this is critical for the health and safety of every dog and team member.
  • Communicates professionally and maintains healthy working relationships with coworkers.
  • Solves problems, works independently, and contributes as part of a team.
  • Enjoys learning and continuously improving.
  • Adapts well as procedures evolve to better serve our clients and their dogs.
  • Is passionate about improving dogs’ lives through enrichment, training, and positive reinforcement.
  • Is dependable, accountable, and takes pride in doing every task well—even the less glamorous ones.
What You’ll Do

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Supervising dogs in off-leash playgroups.
  • Reading canine body language.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitized facility.
  • Feeding and medicating dogs according to detailed instructions.
  • Assisting with grooming services such as baths and nail trims.
  • Working closely with your teammates to provide an exceptional experience for every dog and owner.

This is an active, outdoor position.

The dogs need care regardless of the weather, so our team works outside year-round in the Texas heat, rain, cold, and occasional ice. Team members spend much of the day walking our 10-acre property, staying on their feet, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs., and keeping up with an active workload.

Taking care of dogs also means scooping poop, cleaning up accidents, disinfecting kennels and play yards, and maintaining a spotless facility. Those responsibilities are an important part of providing excellent care.

Compensation

$15.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience, work ethic, reliability, and enthusiasm.

As you grow at DogJoy, advancement comes with increased pay and long-term career opportunities—we want you to grow WITH us.
