Job description

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with thoracic surgery expertise to join a dynamic surgical team on a locum tenens basis in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This role is ideal for an advanced practice provider who is confident in the operating room, clinic, and inpatient settings, with proven experience in robotic thoracic surgery.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: 3–4 days per week
  • Hours: Approximately 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Call: Optional (OR cases only)

Key Responsibilities:

  • First assist in the OR, including robotic thoracic surgical procedures
  • Manage inpatient care: rounding, admissions, and discharges
  • Evaluate and follow-up with outpatient clinic patients
  • Support a case mix including minimally invasive lung surgery and foregut surgery
  • Collaborate closely with thoracic surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with active Connecticut license
  • Thoracic robotic surgery experience required
  • Proficiency in OR first assist, inpatient, and outpatient thoracic care
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
