Job description

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pediatric Dentist to provide locum tenens coverage at a leading academic medical center in Pittsburgh, PA. This role offers a rewarding blend of clinical practice and resident supervision within a dynamic teaching environment. The position includes opportunities for both outpatient care and advanced dental procedures performed in operating rooms and surgical centers.

Practice Scope & Responsibilities
  • Supervise pediatric dental residents while overseeing patient care in the dental clinic
  • Provide direct patient care alongside residents in the dental clinic
  • Perform advanced pediatric dental procedures in hospital operating rooms and a surgical center (North Surgery Center)
  • Participate in call coverage as backup to residents (residents take first call); potential for expanded call responsibilities if long-term locums coverage is needed
  • Collaborate with a team of full-time attending pediatric dentists and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive dental services to children
Schedule
  • Weekdays (Clinic and OR coverage)
  • Call coverage: Residents take first call; locums attending may be asked to provide backup and/or take call over time as needed
  • Potential for longer-term locums coverage as recruitment for permanent staff continues
Certification & Licensing Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Dentistry
  • Residency-trained in Pediatric Dentistry
  • ACLS (AHA certified)
  • PALS (AHA certified)
  • Active Pennsylvania Dental License (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • IMLC accepted — We welcome candidates eligible to expedite licensure through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
