Job summary

Curative is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery locums in Connecticut. This 6-month assignment features weekend blocks (Friday 6 PM to Sunday 6 PM) with 100% call and high autonomy, no supervising physician on site.

The role includes rounding, perioperative support, and coordination of care for adolescent to geriatric patients. Applicants must hold CT license, CAQ in CTS, and ACLS/BLS; no new grads.

Responsibilities

• Rounding and perioperative support in inpatient CTS service
• Coordinate care, pre-op physicals, order/interpret tests, diagnose and treat illnesses
• Assist in surgery and provide postoperative care including suture removal

Job description

Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant locums coverage in Connecticut, inpatient setting with weekend-only blocks and full call responsibility. This is a 6 month need with an option to extend.

Practice Setting

• Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery service


• Patient ages include adolescent, adult, and geriatric


• Clinical work includes rounding, coordination of care, pre op physical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and writing prescriptions


• Operative support includes assisting in surgery, plus suture removal and other post op care

Schedule

• Weekend coverage only, Friday 6 PM through Sunday 6 PM


• 100 percent call during the coverage period


• Ongoing need for approximately 6 months, with option to extend

Cases and Procedures

• Placement of central venous and dialysis catheters


• Placement of arterial lines


• Endoscopic retrieval


• Intra aortic balloon pumps are not performed
