Job summary

77 consultants seeks an on-site Locum Pathologist in Georgetown, SC, to provide expert diagnostic services across tissue samples, pathology reports, and autopsies as part of a dynamic medical practice.

The Associate-level physician will collaborate with lab staff and clinicians, perform diagnostic interpretations, and maintain high standards of patient care while meeting regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Board certification or board eligibility in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
• Associate-level pathology experience (1–3 years) in surgical pathology and laboratory medicine.

Responsibilities

• Examine and diagnose tissue specimens, biopsies, and cytology samples with precision and accuracy.
• Interpret laboratory results and provide diagnostic opinions to guide treatment decisions.
• Perform autopsies and post-mortem examinations as required.
• Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, and specialists on complex cases.
• Ensure compliance with medical, legal, and ethical standards in pathology practice.
• Document findings in EMR and pathology reports.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review challenging cases.
• Supervise and mentor lab staff and pathology residents.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pathology techniques and research.
• Adhere to safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.
• Manage caseload to minimize turnaround times.
• Provide expert consultation on test selection and specimen handling.
