Aya Locums is offering a locum general surgery opportunity in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The position requires holding an MD or DO with a surgery residency, board certification, and an active Mississippi license. The assignment spans 13 weeks with a 24-hour on-call schedule.

Expect daily on-call coverage and standard 24-hour shifts from 07:00 to 07:00, starting 11-01-26. Travel and licensing support accompany competitive pay in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Residency in surgery accredited by ACGME or AOA.
• Mississippi license and ABS board certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of general surgeries including appendectomies, hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, emergency surgeries and endoscopies.
• Provide preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Be on-call for emergency surgeries, such as trauma cases or unexpected complications.
• Provide consultations to patients and other medical professionals regarding surgical options and care plans.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
