Job summary

Aya Locums has an immediate opening for a locum Surgery Cardiovascular physician in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The assignment runs 13 weeks with a day rate of $3,000 to $3,500 and a 24-hour on-call schedule at an acute care hospital.

Requirements include an MD or DO, ACGME/AOA surgery residency, ABS board certification, Mississippi license, and ACLS. Prior locum experience is helpful. Responsibilities span preop to postop care and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Residency in surgery accredited by ACGME or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
• Board certification in surgery by the ABS.
• Active and unrestricted Mississippi medical license.
• ACLS certification is required.
• One year of clinical surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of surgeries including appendectomies, hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, emergency surgeries, and upper and lower endoscopies.
• Provide preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Be on-call for emergency surgeries such as trauma cases.
• Provide consultations regarding surgical options and care plans.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
