Locum Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon - SE England / Essex Region

Triple West Medical is currently seeking an experienced Locum Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon for a 12-month FTC.

The Trust employs over 10,000 staff and offers a comprehensive range of acute and community services across multiple sites, serving over 1 million people. You will possess excellent clinical skills and be active in teaching and supervising multidisciplinary staff.

The service operates through a hub and spoke model. The hub is located at the main hospital, with spokes at two other sites. Each site has a staffed oral & maxillofacial outpatient department providing outpatient, ambulatory, and day case services to its catchment population. Specialty multidisciplinary clinics, such as head and neck cancer and facial deformity clinics, are held at spoke units. All patients requiring overnight stays, head and neck cancer cases, trauma, and emergency care are centralized.

Brief Duties/Responsibilities

1. Provide and coordinate an effective oral and maxillofacial service, developing a sub-specialty interest to complement the department. Participate in departmental activities, including on-call duties, audits, and teaching.
2. Participate in on-call commitments and undertake emergency procedures.
3. Collaborate with the General Manager and Clinical Director in developing, implementing, and monitoring the business plan for the oral and maxillofacial service.
4. Hold full GMC and GDC registration with a license to practice, and be listed as a specialist in the GMC Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Register.
5. Provide consultant-level oral and maxillofacial services on a 1 in 6 on-call basis.
6. Perform independent elective and emergency surgeries, including day cases.
7. Conduct specialty clinics, with a focus on skeletal malocclusions, trauma, and secondary deformity management.
8. Cover colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences.
9. Take responsibility for any special interest areas.
10. Supervise and manage junior medical staff, ensuring adherence to employment and HR policies.
11. Engage in teaching, examinations, accreditation duties, and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education locally and nationally.
