Job summary

Progress Rail, A Caterpillar Company in Muncie, Indiana seeks a full-time engineer to support design, manufacturing and remanufacturing of WACTs. You will review BOMs, manage parts, and implement engineering changes across multiple facilities, ensuring documentation and CAD drawings stay current.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering and at least 3 years of experience, with locomotive/rail background preferred and strong math skills for routine calculations.

Qualifications

• 3 years engineering experience
• Preference for engineers with locomotive and rail experience
• Engineers with experience in Wheel Axle Combo and Traction Moors preferred
• Ability to write and perform routine mathematical calculations clearly and correctly
• Honest and ethical
• Pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good‑natured, cooperative attitude
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel
• Reliable, responsible, and dependable, and diligent in fulfilling obligations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to management on design, manufacturing and remanufacturing of WACTs.
• Review BOMs and updates with fallout on materials in LN.
• Manage Parent level BOMs and Part Numbers.
• Request updates on Engineering prints and changes.
• Manage Manufacturing change requests; Design changes; Engineering change; Document control from Engineering perspective.
• Produce Visual work instructions, update shop travelers and routers; ensure updated changes reach production.
