Job summary

Watco Companies, Inc. is seeking a Locomotive Mechanic to inspect, repair and maintain locomotives in compliance with company policies and FRA regulations. The role includes performing mechanical maintenance and documenting necessary FRA reports.

Qualified candidates will perform tests, use gauges, and work with various equipment while ensuring safety standards and reliability across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Must pass FRA reporting, testing, and certifications for motors, generators, and transformers.
• Must possess valid driver's license and be insurable by company.
• Class B CDL is required or obtainable.
• Able to become a qualified Service Engineer according to FRA regulations.
• Three-year Railroad Apprenticeship may be required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain locomotives per FRA regulations.
• Provide customer service aligned with company expectations.
• Record FRA reports and maintenance data.
• Aim to become a qualified FRA Service Engineer.
• Interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on locomotives.
