Job summary

Amtrak in Seattle is seeking a locomotive maintenance technician responsible for inspection, testing and maintenance of locomotives and rolling stock in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards. You will perform mechanical repairs, diagnose issues, and contribute to safety and reliability of the fleet.

The role requires high school equivalency and technical training; welding experience is preferred. A strong emphasis on safety and teamwork is essential in this on-site position at Amtrak

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement or rebuilding mechanical equipment and systems.
• Prefer welding and cutting experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, tests and performs maintenance on locomotives and rolling stock per FRA and Amtrak standards.
• Repairs drive systems, wheels/trucks, suspension and propulsion components.
• Diagnoses issues with air systems and air brake equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance and moves locomotives as needed.
• Operates lifting/hoisting equipment and understands diesel engine theory.
• Calibrates pressure switches and valves to established standards.
