Amtrak in Tennessee seeks a safety‑minded train service professional to operate locomotives and trains in compliance with federal regulations and corporate policies. You will work varied hours within a 24/7 environment, using clear verbal communication with crew and other staff to ensure safe and efficient movement of trains.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a good attendance/safety record.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Some work experience demonstrates alertness, effective verbal communication and safe work record.
• If applicant has a driver's license, provide driving record and comply with restrictions for last 36 months.
• Must meet FRA vision, color vision and hearing criteria.
• Engineer Training with 8–10 weeks classroom/field work at Amtrak's Training Center, Wilmington, DE; then on‑the‑job training.
• Incumbents may be paid at the student training rate until certified as Class 1 Train Service Engineer.
• Background checks including pre‑employment drug screen are required.

Responsibilities

• Consistently and safely operate locomotives and trains per regulations and policies.
• Operate equipment across a 24/7 transportation environment with alertness and communication with crew.
