Job summary

The Oregon Department of Administrative Services seeks a skilled Locksmith to join the DAS team in Salem. You will install, repair and maintain locks and door hardware across state facilities, and design, modify and maintain a Great Grand Master Key system to ensure building security.

You will also cut and issue keys, track distributions, and troubleshoot both mechanical and electronic locking systems, including ADA-accessible doors and electric strikes.

Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in design, installation, maintenance, and repair of all types of door hardware, locks, and master keys systems.
  • Must possess and maintain an Oregon Locksmith Certification (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of start date).
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage small projects and contractor work related to door and hardware installation or modification.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including repair manuals, blueprints, and vendor specifications.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm or 8:00am - 5:00 pm

Salary Range: $4,312 - $5,988

We're looking for a skilled and reliable Locksmith to join the Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS). In this position, you'll be at the heart of protecting state facilities and keeping Oregonians' workplaces safe, all while enjoying a stable schedule and consistent hours you can count on.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of all types of door hardware, locks, and master keys systems.

Special Qualifications
  • Employee is required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the state where the employee resides.
  • Must possess and maintain an Oregon Locksmith Certification (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, work with, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and hardware.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, building codes, and safety standards accurately.
  • Experience working independently and taking initiative, while providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate technical records, inventories, and databases.
  • Effective teamwork, communication, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill using computers and software programs, including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel, to complete reports and track information.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • This announcement is for one permanent, full-time Physical/Electronic Security Technician, and may be used to fill future vacancies.
  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
