Job description

Amentum is seeking a Locksmith at Creech AFB to install, repair, rebuild, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices by performing the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Inspects, repairs, and certifies GSA containers and vaults.
• Inspects and repairs high-security locks such as LKM7000, KABA Mas X-09/X-10.
• Disassembles locks like padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
• Inserts new or repaired tumblers into locks to change the combination.
• Cuts new or duplicate keys.
• Moves lock-pick in cylinders to open door locks without keys.
• Opens safe locks by drilling.
• Keeps records of locks and keys.
• Completes projects from initial layout to final assembly or installation, including basic structural framework.
• Repairs door screens and replaces or repairs window locks and operators.
• Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Must possess GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician and Inspector Certification.
• High School diploma or GED, with three or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the locksmith field.
• Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and be qualified to operate government general-purpose vehicles.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Effective speaking skills for communication with groups of customers or employees.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
• Problem-solving skills to deal with practical situations and limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions in various formats: written, oral, diagram, or schedule.
• Must hold a Master Locksmith license as required by the state.

Work Environment, Physical, and Mental Demands:

While performing duties, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, weather extremes, and electrical shock risks. Noise level is usually moderate. Physical demands include walking, handling, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, climbing, standing, bending, working in cramped areas, and lifting tools/equipment over 40 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and focus adjustment.
