Fifth Third Bank in Westmont, Illinois is seeking a Lockbox Payment Processor to operate the mail extraction line and process payments according to customer instructions. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety and banking regulations.

The position is based in Westmont, Illinois and runs Sunday through Thursday from 8:30pm to 5am. You will perform routine maintenance, quality checks, and report machine productivity while contributing to Total Rewards with a base pay range

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in a production or Lockbox environment preferred.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Low Speed Extraction Equipment that is designed to cut open mail at a low speed.
• Manually extract payments from envelopes, separating and sorting checks and invoices.
• Operate to extract mail and prepare payments for processing according to customer instructions.
• Gain knowledge of multiple customers and procedures, including tax, Healthcare, and other accounts with unique processing requirements.
• Meet and maintain production and quality standards.
• Review, sort, and audit materials as needed.
• Communicate equipment issues to management.
• Complete assigned paperwork and report on machine productivity.
• Perform routine maintenance of machinery.
• Perform general housekeeping around the machine.
• Adhere to established safety procedures and banking confidentiality.
• Perform quality checks and basic troubleshooting of machinery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Performs a variety of routine operator duties on a production machine, following well-defined and established procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up and operate Low Speed Extraction Equipment that is designed to cut open mail at a low speed.
• Manually extract payments from envelopes, separating and sorting checks and invoices in order to prepare deposit in accordance with client specifications and required workflow.
• Operator will extract the mail and prepare the payments for processing according to each customer’s specific instructions.
• Has gained an increased level of knowledge of multiple customers and procedures. This includes specialized processing for tax accounts, Healthcare accounts and other accounts with unique processing requirements.
• Meet and maintain production and quality standards as set by the assigned department.
• Review, sort, and audit materials as needed.
• Communicate equipment issues, as occurring, to management team.
• Complete all assigned paperwork and report on machines productivity.
• Perform routine maintenance of machinery.
• Perform general housekeeping on and around machine.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Comply with banking Regulations as they relate to customer confidentiality.
• Perform quality checks and basic troubleshooting of machinery.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience in a production or Lockbox environment preferred.
• Attention to detail.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is often physically strenuous.
• May be exposed to moving/vibrating objects, parts, and tools.
• May be exposed to dusty conditions, chemicals, and loud noises.
• Frequently kneels, squats, bends, and stands.
• Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 25 lbs.
• Work frequently consists of repetitive motions.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the US. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
