Full-Time | Utilities & Construction | Field OperationsAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and reliable Directional Drilling Locator to support our HDD crews in safe and accurately completing underground bores. The Locator plays a critical role in maintaining bore path accuracy, avoiding utilities, and ensuring overall jobsite safety and productivity.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and interpret locating equipment (DigiTrak, Subsite, etc.) to guide drill operatorWalk the bore path, track the drill head, and communicate depth, pitch, and alignmentRead plans, prints, and utility locates to plan bore pathIdentify potential conflicts with existing utilities and adjust drilling strategyPerform potholing and verification of utilitiesCommunicate clearly with drill operator, laborers, and supervision throughout the boreSet up, maintain, and organize jobsite equipment and toolsAssist with pullback, pipe handling, and jobsite restorationMaintain equipment logs, daily drilling reports, and bore shot documentationEnsure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirementsSupport crew with other tasks as needed (mixing mud, vacuum excavation, etc.)Required QualificationsExperience as an HDD Locator required (minimum 1 year)Strong knowledge of underground utilities, utility locating, and HDD operationsAbility to read and understand bore plans, maps, and utility marking systemsValid driver’s license (CDL a plus)Ability to work outdoors in all weather and terrainStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to lift 50–75 lbs regularlyPreferred SkillsExperience with DigiTrak Falcon F2/F5, Subsite TK series, or similar systemsUnderstanding of drilling fluids and mud mixingExperience with vacuum excavation and potholing proceduresMechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshootingKnowledge of OSHA, utility safety, and industry best practicesWork Environment & Physical DemandsOutdoor construction environment (heat, cold, rain, uneven ground)Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and liftingLong days, early mornings, occasional weekendsTravel may be required depending on project locationWhat We OfferCompetitive hourly pay + overtimeAdvancement path to Drill Operator, Crew Lead, or SupervisorPaid training and certificationsHealth, dental, vision options401KLife InsuranceShort and Long-Term Disability InsuranceStrong team culture and long-term career opportunitiesScheduleMonday–FridayOccasional weekends or travel depending on project demandQualifications:High School Diploma or GEDValid Driver's license and/or CDL LicenseClean Driving Record3 years as a horizontal directional drilling locator
