dycomind is hiring a Locator to join our field team in Medford, OR. The role involves reading utility maps, using electronic detectors, marking underground facilities, and performing light excavation as needed. You will document locates, respond to notices, and support crews on complex projects in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or relevant work experience.
• Must have a CDL Type A license.
• Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret utility maps and prints to identify underground utilities.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark utilities.
• Communicate findings with excavators, utility reps, and personnel.
• Perform light excavation with a shovel when needed.
• Document and sketch locate results accurately.
• Receive and respond to excavation notices and close out notices in a timely manner.
• Respond to emergency calls and work weekends or night shifts as required.
• Operate company vehicles safely and maintain a professional appearance.
• Perform manhole entry using safety devices.

We’re looking for a Locator to join our team and help connect America. The Locator, under the direction of a company supervisor, performs work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas. Locators read and interpret utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to detect and locate utilities. The utilities may include (but not be limited to) gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sanitary sewer, water lines, street lighting and other facilities within the predefined construction area.

What you’ll do

• Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.

• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.

• Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities.

• Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.

• Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed.

• Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements.

• Use a computer or other device to receive, document and close out excavation notices.

• Respond to emergency calls.

• Work weekends, night work and/or overnight travel as needed.

• Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance.

• Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Must have a CDL Type A license
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: use portable ladder, work in confined spaces and climb stairs

The wage range for Locator - Directiona Drill Bore is$25.00 - $28.00.
