Job summary

Qualifications

Summary

The Location Specialist is responsible to provide quality service and sales of feed, seed, fuels, animal health, agronomy products, farm supplies, for handling of grain and other related activities that may occur in this retail and service environment. This also includes maintenance of the facility and equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

(Includes the following and other duties may be assigned.)

Responsible For
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Adherence to safety policies and providing safety leadership.
  • Maintaining a clean and attractive workplace.
  • Keeping grain and all inventory items in good condition.
  • Ensuring all inventory items are properly accounted for in a timely manner.
  • Preventative maintenance on all rolling stock and fixed assets.
  • Reporting opportunities for increased sales and improved efficiencies in operations of the location.
  • Following accounting procedures: inventory of merchandise, daily cash controls, and all other accounting functions that are necessary to maintain an adequate set of records.
  • Promoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamwork.
  • Adhering to cooperative credit policy.
  • Securing facilities and equipment when closing.
  • Promptly and regularly report to work and work overtime hours as needed.
  • Present a clean and professional appearance.
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Must have a high school diploma and previous experience related to grain, feed, fertilizer, chemicals and/or farms supplies.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the cooperative.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and weights.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Commercial Driver’s License Class A with Haz-Mat and Tanker Endorsements and/or the ability to obtain and maintain.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations. Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation and labeling.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and/or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is regularly required to legally operate a grain elevator manlift with the door closed, (300 lb. weight limit), climb stairs, and climb ladders to the top of the elevator (approximately an additional 30’-40.) The employee may occasionally need to climb ladders that may range from 20’ to 180’. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid condition; extreme cold and extreme heat; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and explosives. The noise level in this work environment usually loud (although not believed to exceed the eight-hour threshold for working in or around loud equipment). Employee must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures and programs for prevention and protection while performing job duties in various work environments.
